New Year, New Goal: Pepsi Refresh

on 05 January 2011
Welcome back everyone from your holidays, we all hope you enjoyed and slept as much as you could. An exciting event took place over the break which was *drumroll* PEPSI REFRESH! If you recall, we made a video/trailer that we planned to send with our pepsi refresh application and we got accepted. For what? Well, we applied to win a $5000 grant from Pepsi Refresh, our goal being, to be able to organize our Run called Run Around the Globe which we plan to do shortly. The money we get from this run will go toward Local School Programs run by our chosen charity Free the Children.

Now that our application is up on their website, the VOTING begins. All you need to do:
1)Visit the profile once a day till Feb 28
2)Sign up VERY quickly
3)Vote for us
You only have 1 vote per idea per day so use them wisely ;)

Please promote this to all your friends and family, we can do this! Remember this is a community event so not just our school gets involved but a LOT of people do! Let them know.

Well on our first meeting back we opened with this great news! Also we started our "current events" when we talk about some events going on right now. For our first current events chat, we played "Issue Bus". We all hope on an imaginary bus and sing along until we reach our "issue". Then 2 ideas are brought out and each person on the bus chooses a side, there is not judging but it's just fun. Then we all discuss our ideas about why we chose which side, this game brought out a lot of new ideas and taught us all things we didn't know. This game was picked up from the Me-We confrence some members attended.

Great meeting back and GOOD LUCK BATEMAN!

A December to Remember!

on 14 December 2010
Well what a fantastic month we had this December! Our penny drive came to an official close in November with a grand total of $1200. Great job everyone and thank you for helping out! Of course, our winning class celebrated with ice cream, hula skirts, sprinkles and music! Thank you to all who helped out with their serving and waiter-ing skills. It was a ton of fun!

Our meetings consisted of figuring out the planning for the party and we started to play some fun ice breaker games. Our last meeting of December was on the 14 due to the winter break. So we ended the year with a BANG and celebrated with lots of yummy food, chit chatting and watching a movie.

A big thanks to all our active members for making this year truly great! We hope to see you all in the next year, we've got big dreams and a lot to do so rest up and enjoy your holidays! A happy new year from the exec team and see you on Jan 4 :)

Youth in Action: Working Towards Change

on 03 December 2010
Education. Empowerment. Inspiration. & Leadership.
There are a few of the many initiatives and ideas we would like to raise awarness about as Youth in Action. We created this video to inform everyone what Youth in Action is about and what we plan to do in the near future! We are also using this video as a promotional video as we enter the Pepsi Refresh Contest to win 5K to help aid the funding of our run
Enjoy

We will let you know if our application gets accepted and when voting starts :)
Thanks for watching!
